Review of Status of 2.10 release
The topic today was to review status to determine if we were ready to set the SOURCE_FREEZE Tag. We reviewed the bugs in target, approved, blocker.
1. Karl had filed some bugs concerning windows vista. We concluded that since vista was a new platform to us we would move those from blocker to major, P1. This was bugs 8733,8734,8735.
2. Bug 8730 which is the only bug on the target list will be approved today and installed.
3. Blocker list. There is one bug on the blocker list, 8652 which is unconfirmed for 2.10 (marked as a 2.9.1 bug) and which we moved to critical. Note that congratulations are due to IBM Germany for finding the general failure bu 8713 which was the one really blocking this release.
This means that as of today,
1. No blocker bugs.
2. All target bugs either have target-2.10 removed or will be approved and installed.
3. Runs on the major platforms.
Therefore, we propose that today we will set the SOURCE_FREEZE tag and issue the announcement.
Documentation:
There are 3 PEPs that we must update for the 2.10 release PEPS 351,352, 355. All are up for comment now. We will need to start ballot by some time next week to get these into the release. Remember that 255 goes into the cvs and it requires pointers to 351 and 352 so that all have to be approved, moved before we can actually release.
ACTION: Karl set the SOURCE_FREEZE tag and issue the source freeze email once bug 8730 is checked in.
